There are scholars that will argue that only certain parts of the Bible are true – historical accounts or archaeological data that are verifiable enough. Others argue that the whole thing is made up. The fact is, that to take the Bible at its claims, the whole thing has to be true. If statements are to be made such as:
- It is entirely inspired by God (2 Timothy 3:15-17)
- By God, who cannot lie (Titus 1:2; Hebrews 6:18)
- That it IS truth (John 17:17)
Then what it contains has to be correct. Otherwise, as the apostle Paul writes to the church at Corinth, “if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is vain, your faith also is vain” (1 Corinthians 15:14).
